As a member of the Trail of Tears Association, you will receive two newsletters a year, a discounted rate for the annual conferences, and, soon, a scholarly journal, as well as any publications your individual chapter publishes. Additionally, Sponsors, Patrons, and Benefactors are listed prominently in two issues of the Trail News newsletter.
The Trail of Tears Association offers chapter membership in the nine (9) states where the trail is located, to include: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Tennessee. These chapters hold regular meetings to research and discuss Trail routes and segments through their states.
Membership in the Trail of Tears Association automatically includes membership in the national Association, as well as membership in one (1) state chapter of your choice. Each additional state chapter membership is $10.00. Memberships are annual, January 1 through December 31. Payments to the Trail of Tears Association are tax deductible under section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue code.

- Patron – $500
- Benefactor – $1000
- Student – $10 (must enclose with dues a copy of a valid college student ID or (for minors) a birth certificate)
